The euphoria provoked by winning the Paulista Championship title at the weekend did nothing to start the President of São Paulo getting out his cheque book. Marcelo Portugal Gouvêa. refused to promise any news stars to reinforce the team for the national championship.

"I will not promise anything before 15 or 20 days. We will recruit within the finances of the club and the Coach's recommendation" he said.

Gouvêa preferred to speak about the pride of the club, the training center:

"With the financial crisis which is shaking Brazilian football, the best alternative (to spending) is currently to focus on our training centre which we hope will generate quality players every year. We hope to reveal many Renan, Alê, Tardelli or Edcarlos."

The "Tricolor" group should not be disrupted with large squad changes before the beginning of the Brazilian national championship.
