Corinthian's frustrating start in the Brazilian national championship has a first victim: goalkeeper Fabio Costa.

The goalkeeper has been dropped for Wednesdays game against Figueirense in the last sixteen of the Copa do Brasil, Wednesday.

According to vice-president Andrés Sanchez, Fabio Costa's selection (or lack of) is entirely down to coach Daniel Passarella.

"Passarella informed us that Fabio Costa won't belong to the squad which will play Figueirense this Wednesday and he was not a part of his plans yet for the next championship games".

Insistent rumours have ever announced goalkeeper Marcos of rival Palmeiras could be on his way to Corinthians.
