Joel Santana Will Leave Flamengo

Real hero of the end of the Brazilian League, coach Joel Santana has confirmed his departure to the Japanese club of Kashima Antlers for the next season. His contract with Flamengo will end on Sunday after Paysandu’s game in Belém.

Players wanted him to stay in the club for the season 2006 but coach Santana said that he received an offer which he could not refuse.

Joel Santana arrived in Flamango at the end of October when the blub was in a relegated position after the defeat against Vasco 2-1. His results were spectacular: 5 wins and 3 draws whereas on the 8 previous matches, Flamengo had 2 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats.
