After Abel Braga's departure for financial reasons more than sporting ones, the president of Fluminense, Roberto Horcades advertised Ivo Wortmann's arrival to manage his team.

This 56-year "Gaucho" trained Dinamo Moscow for a few months after having succeeded a good first part of Brazilian League with Juventude.

Wortmann is known to be a keen traveller. Before his Russian experience, the coach had worked in Qatar, in Saudi Arabia and in the United States.
