Ailton Joins Hamburg

Besiktas whimsical forward Ailton has just been lent to Hamburg, currently second of the Bundesliga behind Bayern München.

Ailton has been lent until the end of the season with an option to buy of 1,75 million Euros.

So the Brazilian player sees his wishes granted. He had expressed strongly his desire to return in the German league six months after his departure.

In spite of a last season a little disappointing with Schalke 04, the forward had attracted attention with Werder Bremen becoming notably the best scorer of the Bundesliga 2003-2004.

His conflicting relationship with Besikats coach Jean Tigana favoured this departure. He was also in contact with Borussia Dortmund and FC Köln.
