América opened the scoring in the first half thanks to a goal from ex-international Robert, at the 15' minute.

In the second half, defender Scheidt equalized at the 12' minute from an header from corner. It is forward Dodô who gave the advantage for Botafogo from a countered kick at the 22' minute before the last goal scored by midfielder Zé Roberto eleven minutes later.

This victory allows Botafogo to play the Carioca League final 2006 which will play in first and return legs against the next Taça Rio winner. If Botafogo also win the Taça Rio, the club coached by Carlos Roberto will be proclaimed champion of Rio 2006.
