Taça Rio: Fluminense 2-0 América

Fluminense finally won a match in this Taça Rio. Even in a uninspired evening and missig their main star - Petkovic, the tricolor squad beat América (2-0) in Maracanã Stadium. Maybe it could be a good sign for Laranjeiras neighborhood. But América started on attack, while Fluminense’s players had a snoozing performance. On 8 minutes, midfielder Leandro made a good play, shooting strongly against Fernando Henrique’s goal. Then, in a personal play, Cláudio Pitbull came with the ball on the left wing and crossed; Lenny received in the area and shot in the right side of goalkeeper Emerson, 1-0.
On the second half, the actions were basically the same, América dominating, and Flu exploring counter-attacks. On 18 minutes of second half, Keeper Fernando Henrique in a strong kick out, Cláudio Pitbull appeared again, and won Válber on the running, and shocked against América’s keeper, but he had time to shoot the ball on the net previously. Fluminense 2-0. The result was there, they only had to be patient and administrate it. Angelo by Fluminense and Julinho by América, received Red Cards and sent out of the field.
