Valdiran decides the match and Vasco beat Nova Iguaçu

With 2 goals scored on the last minutes, Valdiran commanded Vasco da Gama to the victory against Nova Iguaçu (4-2) and is still on the running for the conquest of Taça Rio. The squad from São Januário scored twice, but allowed the opponents to equalize in both times. The situation changed after a tactical change made by Coach Renato Gaúcho. Romário was replaced by defensive midfielder Yves. By this way, Vasco played in a very compact way and Nova Iguaçu had no spaces for their actions. On 36 of second half, Valdiran received the ball from Ernani and shot twice for scoring. Vasco 3-2. 10 minutes later, in a counter attack, Claudemir made a long pass and Valdiran was there for finishing with violence against Keeper Lugão and gave final numbers to the match. On the late game of the night, Botafogo and Cabofriense tied in Maracanã Stadium. Sorato scored for Cabofriense and Botafogo only equalized on 33 minutes f the second half.
