Atletico Paranaense's German coachLothar Matthaus' is to appeal against his 30-day suspension.

A disciplinary committee handed out the ban after he insulted a assistant referee.

Club lawyer Domingos Moro has stated Atletico are unhappy with the length of the suspension and that they will be looking to reduce the ban.

"We are going to appeal to the federation because we believe Matthaus' suspension is too much time," said Moro to the Brazilian press.

"It seems there are people in Brazilian football that envy us because we have a very important coach in our team and we are not going to allow that."
