Last Sunday, Cruzeiro won the Mineiro League beating Ipatinga one nil in the return leg of the final. In the first leg, the two clubs drew 1-1.

Midfielder Wagner scored the only goal for Cruzeiro who won their 24th Mineiro championship.

With this result, underfire coach Paulo César Gusmão silenced all critics and proved his ability to build and train a squad.
