São Paulo and Goiás missed the opportunity to qualify for the second round of the Copa Libertadores last Wednesday.
São Paulo lost at home against Chivas Guadalajara (Mexico) 1-2 and missed the opportunity to seize the first place of the group 1. Yet Aloisio opened the scoring but the Tricolor took one goal at the end of the first half and a second one at the end of the game.
São Paulo are from now on four points behind the leader and are two points ahead of Caracas (Venezuela).
Goiás lost one nil against The Strongest which were last of the group 3 yet. In spite of this defeat, Goiás kept its first place with four points ahead of The Strongest and Union Española.
Paulista won its first match of the competition against River Plate 2-1. The Brazilian club went back to three points of the first, Libertad which are 8 points.
Thursday, Corinthians won away 3-2 against Universidad Catolica. Thanks to this victory, the Timão took the second place of the group 4 equal with its opponent which is first with 10 points.
Carlos Tevez scored the first goal for the Timão before Nilmar's brace. Nevertheless, Wendell and Gustavo Nery received red cards.
Corinthians will play at home against Deportivo Cali (Columbia) at the time of the last match.
