At the end of this third round, Santos took the first place ahead of Fluminense, equal in points.

The Peixe took advantage of Fluminense's draw against Vasco da Gama, one - one. Abedi had opened the scoring in the first half but Tuta equalized at the beginning of the second half. Vasco fielded a under strength team in protest at the games change of venue to the Maranca after safety fears.

Santos won the derby against Palmeiras at Parque Antartica, 1-2. The Verdão scored the first thanks to defender Gamarra at the 66' minute but Santos reacted at once forcing a Paulo Baier own goal. It was Reinaldo who scored the goal for victory at the end of the game.

Internacional beat Flamengo one nil while Corinthians lost away against Ponte Preta, 3-2. Iran, twice, and Rafael Santos were the Ponte Preta scorers whereas Da Silva(own goal) and Edson were the scorers for the Timão.

Lastly, São Paulo crushed Santa Cruz four nil.
