Weekend Results

While current leaders São Paulo were held to a 1-1 draw by Borafogo over the
weekend, Corinthians marked their return to the Pacembu with a two-one win over Atlético-PR. Goals from Tevez and Rafael Moura helped the Timão put an end to their eight game spell without a win.

Meanwhile a nine man Santos managed to claw their way back from one nil down to beat Internacional two-one. Santos saw striker Reinaldo dismissed in the 74th minute and lost the Chilean Claudio Maldonado just minutes later to injury, having already used their three substitutions.

Two late goals from midfielder Wendel managed to secure an unexpected win for Luxembourgo’s team, with both goals coming from set-pieces. The first came from a perfectly placed free-kick and the second following a controversial penalty decision; Denis was tripped by Rubens Cardoso but Internacional fans insist the trip occurred outside the area.

Struggling Palmeiras were also reduced to nine men though could only manage
a nil-nil draw with Forteleza. The away side saw Marincho Guerrero sent off
for stamping on Mazinho Lima and Daniel followed in the second half after
being shown his second yellow for kicking the ball away. Full results
