Leão in bid for Alex

Corinthian’s coach Emerson Leão has handed the club’s financial backers, MSI, a list of players he would like to see at the club. At the top of the list of possible reinforcements is PSV Eindhoven defender Alex, who once played under Leão at Santos.

In an interview with TV Gazeta Leão also revealed that he is prepared to see both Roger and Gustavo Nery leave the club; the Turkish side Fenerbahçe has shown an interest in both players.

Meanwhile despite assertions by MSI that Tevez is going nowhere rumours of his imminent departure surfaced once again as he failed tom turn up for a training session yesterday. His relationship with the club is likely to sour even further as coach Leão has refused both him and fellow Argentine Mascherano permission to join their national side in a friendly against Brazil set to take place in little over ten days time. According to the Folha do São Paulo Leão argues that as it is not an official FIFA fixture he is under no obligation to free the players; an understandable stance say some considering Corinthians are currently battling relegation and the Argentine duo are two of the club’s best players.
