Daniel Carvalho, CSKA midfielder has warned Arsenal not to expect an easy ride when the two sides meet in the Champions League this week.
A single goal from Carvalho was enough to secure victory for CSKA when they took on Arsenal in Moscow last week, although Henry came close to drawing things level things level minutes from time only to have his goal disallowed following a dubious handball ruling. Carlvalho himself acknowledged, “I didn’t understand why the goal was ruled out. Maybe that is why their players were so upset with the referee, but that is football.”
Wednesday’s game will be Carvallho’s second visit to the Emirates Stadium, which he describes as, “the most beautiful stadium I have ever played in,” adding “I was stunned when I walked out onto the pitch for the first time.” The 23 year old took part in Brazil’s 3-0 thrashing of arch-rivals Argentina at the new stadium earlier this year.
Speaking to the British media Carvalho made it clear that while he knows it won’t be an easy fixture for CSKA they won’t be making things easy for Arsenal either. “We are going to face a great deal of pressure from the crowd this time but I hope I can leave the stadium smiling again,” he admitted.
He went on to add, “another victory will mean a spot in the last 16 and now we know we can beat Arsenal we are much more confident. We have to guarantee our place in the next round as quickly as we can. A draw would be fantastic at the Emirates Stadium, but we think we can win. We are much more confident and I think Arsenal respect us more than before.”
