The exodus continues . . .

With the January transfer window well and truly open the annual exodus of Brazilians to Europe has began

As usual Spain is a favoured destination for the South American imports. Today Real Sociedad revealed that striker Savio will join them on loan form Flamengo until June 30th, having already agreed terms with Arsenal de Sarandi for Argentine defender Victor Lopez.

Not content with nabbing Internacional’s Rafael Sobis and Jorge Wagner Real Betis are now reported to be after right-winger-winger Ceará, although no contract has yet been signed.

Meanwhile second division Spanish side Alavés have confirmed the signing of Vasco midfielder Alberoni. The 22 year-old joins on an 18 month loan.

Gremio midfielder Lucas was also linked to a move to Spain and Athletico Madrid but latest reports suggest he may soon be donning an Inter Milan shirt instead.

PSV Eindhoven have taken the opportunity to add to their stable of Brazilians which already includes Alex and Gomes, amongst others with the signing of 17 year-old Jonathan Reis. Reis joins PSV on a five year contract but will continue training with his current club Atletico Mineiro until he turns 18 later this year.

CSKA Moscow are also building on their Brazilian contingent and have confirmed the signing of Corinthian’s midfielder Ramon for 6.2 million Euros. Their hope of signing Wagner of Cruzeiro has not come to fruition but they are still hopeful of attracting Interacional’s 24 year-old forward Alex.

Other players set to leave Brazil for Europe are defender Nen who is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain from Palmeiras, Atlético Mineiro’s Marcinho who has been linked to Gençlerbirligi in Turkey and Jeovânio formerly of Gremio who has already signed for Valenciennes (France).

With the transfer window remaining open until January 31st the exodus is far from over.
