Romario scored twice as Vasco da Gama crushed part-timers Fast Club 6-0 in a Copa Brasil tie on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old, played the full 90 minutes, opened his account with a penalty two minutes before halftime and added another in the 76th minute after a one-two with Andre Dias.
The brace took Romario up to 992. Only 8 short of his target of a 1000 career goals.
Leandro Amaral also scored twice while Renato and Wagner Diniz shared the other goals as Vasco completed an 8-1 aggregate win in the first round tie against the little-known side from Manaus.
