Vasco part with Renato Gaucho

Renato Gaucho was fired on Friday, jsut two days after the team lost to Botafogo in a penalty-kick shootout that eliminated Vasco from the Rio de Janeiro state championship.

Vasco spokesman Nelson Costa said the club has not chosen a replacement for Renato, who reportedly was bound for 2005 national champion Corinthians.

Media speculation centered on Antonio Lopes, who has coached Vasco several times, and Alfredo Sampaio, who led modest Madureira to a good showing in the Guanabara Cup tournament, won by Flamengo.
