Internacional have been crowned champions of South America after winning the Recopa Sudamericana - the title contested by the Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana winners.

The Porto Alegre side overcame a 2-1 defeat in the away tie to win the home leg 4-0, and beat Pachuca 5-2 on aggregate.

Little went right for the Mexicans in the Beira Rio Stadium; Alex converted a penalty in the 29th minute, Pinga doubled the score line just after half time and Alexandre Pato added enough in the 74th.

An own goal followed thanks to Aquivaldo Mosquera, and if Pachuca's fate was not already clear, it was sealed as Fausto Pinto was sent off after picking up a second yellow.
