Brazil's Copa America campaign started miserably after a defeat to Mexico on Wednesday evening in the Polideportivo Cachamay. Brazil have a poor record against Mexico and the bad run continued as Nery Castillo and Roman Morales goals gave the central American's a 2-0 win.

In the first half Diego had a 6th minute goal ruled out for an offside call against Robinho - who did not interfere with the play. Robinho claim close for Brazil, hitting the crossbar with a bicycle kick and also an angled shot deflected by Ochoa.

In the 24th minute, Nery Castillo was played onside inside the box by an out of position Maicon, who then made it even worse by charging at the forward. Castillo calmly flicked it over him with his right foot, before crashing it past Doni with his left.

Five minutes later, Ramon Morales curled a beautiful free-kick over a static Brazilian defence. Doni could barely moved.

In the second half Dunga made changes, bringing on Afonso Alves for Diego, and the Anderson for Elano.

Brazil fought back but couldn't breach the Mexican defense. Daniel Alves came on for Maicon as Dunga made the final throw of the dice, and Robinho hit the bar from a tight angle as chances continued to come thick and fast for the Selecao. However, the goal continued to prove elusive as the game headed into injury time.

"We lost concentration and conceded the goals," said Dunga. "We recovered and showed our quality but the ball would not go in."
