Argentina have booked their place alongside Brazil in this year's Copa America final after stunning 3-0 win over Mexico in their semi-final clash.

Gabriel Heinze opened the scoring, with Lionel Messi slotting home a superb chip and Roman Riquelme completing the victory from the penalty spot.

Brazil trail Argentina and Uruguay in the Copa America championship rankings, but have dominated the competition in recent years.

The game between Argentina and Brazil on Sunday's will be the 10th final between the two countries in the 91-year history of the South American championship. Argentina won the first eight.

Brazil's victory in a penalty shootout three years ago in Peru was its first over its arch-rival in a Copa final.

"It's the last link in the chain and playing in a classic derby against Brazil is the greatest," said Argentinean coach Basile.

The final takes place on Sunday in the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo.
