Luis Fabiano scored twice on Wednesday as Brazil beat Uruguay, 2-1 at home in South American qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
Sebastian Abreu gave Uruguay the lead in the 9th minute, but Fabiano scored in the 44th and 65th to rescue Brazil.
The leading scorer in the Spanish league with eight goals, Luis Fabiano had not been a regular in Brazil's national team since Dunga took over as coach after the World Cup in Germany.
"He got into the match and was able to take advantage of his opportunity," Dunga said. "Any player who comes and plays well will keep having chances, it's natural."
Luis Fabiano, a former Sao Paulo player, was used to the spotlights of Morumbi and his return to the stadium was much anticipated by local fans. After his first goal, he kneeled on Sao Paulo's symbol on the sidelines to celebrate.
